This feels like the most interesting matchup so far for the GOTW segment for season XI. SP came off of season X by barely missing the playoffs with the Cowboys, now he had great expectations coming into the new season but he is underperforming. Chosen “Sportz” on the other hand seems to be underachieving (yes, 4-0 can be considered bad) by not dominating what might be the weakest division this season.

The Bears (Superpunk)

OFFENSE

Two speed threats at the #2 & #3 spot make this a homeun offense, and Mushin Muhammad at #1 fills the corps with a stellar possession receiver. Rex has a cannon arm, but may be inaccurate on the shorter throws, and Cedric Benson needs to stop partying to be effective for this offense.

Key Offensive Players:

Bernard Berrian       Devin Hester

DEFENSE

This is a very tough Bears defense, and could potentially be unstoppable if SP can step it up a bit with them. There is pro bowl talent all around this defense, especially with all world linebacker Brian Urlacher. Also Tommie Harris at the DT is a force to be reckoned with every week.

Key Defensive Players:

Tommie Harris      Brian Urlacher

The Seahawks(ChosenOne)

OFFENSE

This Seahawk offense has the potential to be great. Great line, good QB, good depth at wideout, and then you see old rotting Shaun Alexander. But somehow Chosen “Sportz” has found a way to get production out of the soon to be over the hill back. This is by no stretch of the imagination a fast offense, but they can ground and pound their way down the field.

Key Offensive Players:

Shawun Alexander       Matt Hasselbeck

DEFENSE

Good squad led by 4 great players in Marcus Trufant, Julian Peterson, Lofa Tatupu, and Patrick Kerney. The rest of the defense could use some work in the skill department. I don’t know much about Chosen’s defense, but it should be good if it got him to the MPL bowl last season.

Key Defensive Players:

Lofa Tatupu       Marcus Trufant

Key Matchup:

VS
Brian Urlacher
versus Shaun Alexander

These two players who seem to be on the down slope for their careers, will face off on the field in this game of the week. If the Brian Urlacher and the Bears defense can shut down Shaun Alexander on the ground they should be able to win this game.

Outcome: This one is tricky to pick, and in a toss up like this, you need to go with the guy who has more experience in the league, plus my quarter agreed, SP will pull this game out, and turn around his season.

Bears win 20-17
