McGrath comes in off of a nice win over Tate’s Jaguars, and OG comes in after a close loss to Jim’s Rams in the first week. These competitors were went different ways in the draft, OG got who everybody wanted, and McGrath got who nobody wanted. However, McGrath had a strong preseason and seems to have found something in that dismal Oakland Raider offense to spark up some wins

The Raiders (JMcGrathsince82)

OFFENSE

JaMarcus Russell had a rookie like performance last week with less than 100 yards passing and more INTs than TDs. However Justin Fargas averaged 5.5 yards per carry against a tough Jaguar defense, to keep them stable. McGrath knows how to get great production with less than stellar players when he lead the league in PPG last year, and may be looking for a repeat performance.

Key Offensive Players:

JaMarcus Russell       Justin Fargas

DEFENSE

Despite having one of the worst offenses in the game, the Raiders are somewhat balanced out with having an above average defense, led by such playmakers as Nnamdi Asimougahashga, Derrick Burgess, & Kirk Morrison. These pro bowl caliber players added to McGrath’s skill on the sticks, and his intelligence as a coach, leads to a very dangerous squad to play against.

Key Defensive Players:

Nnamdi Asimougahashga      Derrick Burgess

The Eagles(OG Style Sucka)

OFFENSE

OG’s offense had a questionable showing against the unimpressive Rams defense. There was a decent passing performance, but a below par running performance against the Rams D-line that is built for the pass. But with Westbrook & McNabb in the backfield, it will be hard to hold this offense down for long, so I see that this unit could explode and put up some major points in this game.

Key Offensive Players:

Brian Westbrook       Donovan McNabb

DEFENSE

The Eagles defense is strong throughout, but is anchored by it’s secondary led by pro bowler Brian Dawkins. In week one though, it didn’t perform up to standard, and Obmij’s Rams moved the ball effectively. OG will need this fast defense to play well, also he will have to get some help from his defensive line, as well as use his defensive skills if he wants to stop McGrath on the other side of the ball.

Key Defensive Players:

Brian Dawkins       Lito Sheppard

Key Matchup:

VS
Kirk Morrison
versus Brian Westbrook

Brian Westbrook, with his speed, has a potential to run wild on a defense, and it’ll be up to the MLB to contain the little guy. This is a great match up between two younger players who haven’t reached their prime yet, but I see the slight edge to Westbrook, just because Morrison might not be able to keep up on toss or stretch plays.

Outcome: This will be a pretty close game throughout, and it will go into halftime either tied or a couple points apart, but I think McGrath will find some hole in the Eagles, and pull it out in the 2nd half to pick up the victory and reach 2-0.

Raiders win 31-21
